1、 Characteristics of Melting Furnace Dust Collector

(1) Dust removal performance

1. Combination of multiple dust removal methods

Melting furnace dust collectors usually use a combination of multiple dust removal methods to achieve the purpose of dust removal. For example, the common combination of bag dust removal and cyclone dust removal. Cyclone dust removal, as a primary dust removal, uses the principle of centrifugal force to separate larger particles of dust from the airflow. These dust particles are thrown towards the dust collector wall under the action of centrifugal force and then fall into the ash hopper. After the cyclone dust removal, the dusty gas enters the bag filter, which intercepts small dust particles through filtration. The bag has high filtration efficiency for dust particles with a diameter of 0.1-10 microns, and can effectively remove fine particulate smoke and dust generated by the melting furnace, making the emitted gas meet environmental standards.

2. Stability under high filtration speed

During the operation of the melting furnace, a large amount of smoke and dust will be generated, which requires the dust collector to have a high filtration speed. The design of the melting furnace dust collector has optimized the structure and material of the filter bag, enabling it to maintain stable dust removal effect at high filtration speeds. For example, using filter bag materials with smooth surfaces and good breathability can reduce the accumulation of dust on the surface of the filter bag, lower the filtration resistance, and ensure that the pressure loss of the dust collector is within a reasonable range at high filtration speeds, without affecting the dust removal efficiency due to excessive resistance.

(2) High temperature resistance performance

1. Adapt to high-temperature smoke and dust environments

The temperature of the smoke and dust generated by the melting furnace is relatively high, usually several hundred degrees Celsius. Therefore, the dust collector of the melting furnace needs to have good high temperature resistance performance. The outer shell is usually made of high-temperature resistant metal materials such as carbon steel or stainless steel, and an insulation layer is installed inside to reduce the impact of heat on other components of the equipment. At the same time, the filter bags inside the dust collector are also made of high-temperature resistant materials, such as glass fiber, aramid fiber, etc. These materials can work normally in high-temperature environments without deformation or damage due to high temperatures, ensuring the long-term stable operation of the dust collector in the high-temperature smoke and dust environment of the melting furnace.

2. Temperature control system

In order to better cope with the temperature changes of the melting furnace dust, some dust collectors are also equipped with temperature control systems. The system can monitor the temperature of the smoke entering the dust collector in real time. When the temperature is too high, automatic adjustment devices such as mixing cold air or using cooling pipes for heat exchange can be used to reduce the temperature to a range that the dust collector can withstand, avoiding equipment damage due to high temperature and further improving the equipment's high temperature resistance performance.

(3) Corrosion resistance capability

1. Dealing with corrosive smoke and dust components

When melting certain metals or ores, the smoke and dust generated by the melting furnace may contain acidic or alkaline components. For example, during the melting process of non-ferrous metals, the smoke and dust may contain corrosive gases such as sulfur dioxide and hydrogen chloride. The internal structure and filter bag material of the melting furnace dust collector have been specially designed to have strong corrosion resistance. For example, using anti-corrosion coatings such as epoxy paint on the internal surface of the equipment can effectively prevent corrosion from acidic or alkaline substances. The filter bag material is also made of corrosion-resistant fibers, such as PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) coated filter bags, which can resist the corrosion of various chemicals and ensure the normal service life of the dust collector.

2. Prevent condensation and corrosion

During the dust removal process, temperature changes may cause condensation of water vapor in the smoke and dust, resulting in the formation of dew. If the water droplets generated by condensation combine with corrosive components, they can cause serious corrosion to the equipment. The melting furnace dust collector minimizes the occurrence of condensation through good insulation measures and reasonable airflow design. For example, temperature compensation devices are installed at the inlet and outlet of the dust collector to maintain a certain temperature difference between the inlet and outlet, prevent water vapor from condensing inside the equipment, and improve the equipment's corrosion resistance.

(4) High degree of automation

1. Automatic dust cleaning system

The melting furnace dust collector is equipped with an automatic ash cleaning system, which is one of its important features. The main methods of dust cleaning include pulse jet cleaning and mechanical vibration cleaning. Pulse jet cleaning is a method that uses compressed air to instantly blow the filter bag, causing the dust attached to the surface of the filter bag to fall off. This cleaning method has the advantages of good cleaning effect and minimal damage to the filter bag. Mechanical vibration cleaning is achieved by periodically vibrating the filter bag through a mechanical device, causing dust to fall off. These dust cleaning systems can automatically operate based on the resistance of the dust collector or the set time interval, maintaining good air permeability of the filter bag and ensuring the stability of dust removal efficiency.

2. Remote monitoring and fault alarm

For the convenience of operation and management, the dust collector of the melting furnace can be remotely monitored. By installing sensors and control systems, operators can monitor the operating parameters of the dust collector in real-time in the central control room, such as temperature, pressure, flow rate, dust removal efficiency, etc. At the same time, when the equipment malfunctions, such as high temperature, abnormal pressure, or damaged filter bags, the system will automatically issue an alarm signal to remind the staff to handle it in a timely manner, improving the safety of equipment operation.

2、 Installation time of dust collector for melting furnace

The installation time of the melting furnace dust collector is influenced by various factors.

(1) Equipment scale and complexity

1. Installation time of small dust collector

For small melting furnace dust collectors, such as single-stage cyclone dust collectors with small air flow and relatively simple structure, the installation time may be relatively short. If the on-site conditions are good, the equipment foundation has been prepared in advance, and there are professional installation personnel, generally speaking, the installation time may be around 1-3 days. This includes basic tasks such as equipment placement, pipeline connection, electrical wiring, etc.

2. Installation time for large and complex dust collectors

Large melting furnace dust collectors, especially those that use multi-stage dust removal methods, complex temperature control systems, and automation equipment, will take longer to install. For example, the installation process of a large bag cyclone composite dust collector involves the construction of a large steel structure, the installation and commissioning of numerous filter bags, the installation of complex pipeline systems, and the wiring and commissioning of automation control systems. In this case, the installation time may take 1-2 weeks or even longer, depending on factors such as the actual situation of the installation site, the technical level of the installation personnel, and the construction efficiency.

(2) Installation site conditions

1. Good on-site conditions

If the infrastructure at the installation site is complete, such as leveling the site, having suitable lifting equipment, good ventilation and lighting conditions, and the pouring of equipment foundations has been completed in advance, the installation work will be smoother and the installation time can be effectively shortened. For example, installing a melting furnace dust collector in a newly built factory workshop, the building structure and supporting facilities of the workshop are designed according to the equipment installation requirements, which is conducive to the rapid installation of equipment.

2. Complex on-site conditions

However, if the installation site space is narrow, there is no suitable lifting equipment, or if the original building structure needs to be modified to accommodate the installation of the dust collector, the installation time will be greatly increased. For example, installing a large melting furnace dust collector in an old factory workshop may require removing some obstacles and reinforcing the floor and walls of the workshop. These preliminary preparations may take several days or even weeks, resulting in an extended installation cycle.

(3) The technical level and experience of the installation personnel

1. Professional team installation time

The installation of the melting furnace dust collector by a professional installation team can effectively improve installation efficiency and shorten installation time. Professional installers are familiar with the structure and installation process of the equipment, and can quickly and accurately complete various installation tasks. For example, when installing filter bags, they can proficiently follow the operating procedures to avoid situations where the filter bags are damaged due to improper operation and need to be reinstalled. For a medium-sized melting furnace dust collector, a professional team may complete the installation work within 3-7 days.

2. Installation time for non professionals

If installation is carried out by non professionals, they may encounter various problems during the installation process due to their lack of relevant experience and skills, such as inaccurate equipment installation positions, loose pipeline connections, electrical wiring errors, etc. These problems require time to solve, resulting in a significant extension of installation time. Moreover, non professionals may damage the equipment during the installation process due to their lack of understanding of its performance, requiring repair or replacement of components, further increasing the installation time.
